Surfrider presents the decalogue for surfers
Last Sunday, October 31 at 11:00 in the morning, the Decalogue for Surfers was presented at the Tabakalera Impact Hub, designed by the surfer from La Zurriola Jabi Iraizoz with the support of Surfrider Spain, delegation of the NGO Surfrider Foundation Europe. The project presented showed ten concrete ideas focused on people who surf to reduce their C02 footprint and their environmental impact in depth far beyond the symbolic collection of plastics on the beaches .The original author of the decalogue, Jabi Iraizoz, assures “the decalogue is the result of years of common and individual reflections, of becoming aware of various issues that as surfers require our attention in relation to to the environment”According to Maria Ballesteros, head of education and volunteering at Surfrider Spain “we are very happy to support a project like this one, born from a surfer and designed for the surfer community. From the NGO we always try to involve everyone and this is a great opportunity to work together to protect the ocean”The table also had the presence of the well-known surfer, activist and prestigious oceanographer Tony Butt to support and argue this project in front of the attendees. Starting in November, from the channels of Surfrider Spain, a video will be published monthly in collaboration with different surfers, who will explain the creative process and the reason for each point of the same .
